Professor Jonathan Passmore

United Kingdom

Professor of Coaching and Behavioural Change, Henley Business School; Senior Vice President, EZRA Coaching

Professor of Coaching and Behavioural Change at Henley Business School and Senior Vice President at EZRA Coaching. A chartered psychologist with five degrees including a doctorate in occupational psychology. He was instrumental in creating the British Psychological Society's Division of Coaching Psychology in 2021 and served as its inaugural Chair.

Why this placement

He holds the only award record on this list that owes nothing to the Thinkers50 and 100 Coaches network: the British Psychological Society's Academic Contribution to Practice Award (2018), its Distinguished Contribution to Coaching Psychology (2017) and its Coaching Research Award (2012); the Association of Business Psychologists' Chair's Award for Excellence (2015); and the Association for Coaching's Global Impact Award (2010). Five honours from four independent scientific and professional bodies.

His published corpus is the largest here and the most rigorous — Excellence in Coaching (Kogan Page, 4th ed. 2021), The Coaches' Handbook (Routledge), Becoming a Coach: The Essential ICF Guide, plus peer-reviewed output his institution numbers in the hundreds. On generosity, the ICF guide and the handbooks are infrastructure for other coaches rather than shop windows for his own practice.
